I read somewhere that Robert Irwin didn't like people to photograph his work because a photograph only captures image, not presence.
This work takes a Mondrian painting and expands it into a 3 dimensional tic tac toe board. I imagine this artwork as room-sized. Maybe this is what it looks like from the inside of a Rubik's cube, looking out.
